I flew 28 combat missions over Germany to Strategic targets. Had to bail out on my 9th mission, 2 Jan 45. Came down 2 miles from St. Quentin, France 12 miles on the Allied side of Battle of Bulge's front lines. I was injured. Picked up by French civilians who took me to a field hospital at St. Quentin. After about 2 weeks I was released. I made it back to my base arriving Jan. 28th and I went on my next mission to Berlin on Feb 3 '45. When war ended 18 Apr 45 I flew 3 food missions to Holland. I flew one mission to Lintz, Austria to fly 30 french Prisoner of War (POW)s to Paris. In mid-June 1945 I flew my B-17 and 20 base personnel plus my crew back to US
