After training in Thunderbolts he flew a further 200 hours with the 56th FG 63rd FS. He returned to the USA where he taught new pilots before transferring to the Pacific theater. Flying out of Ie Shima his final mission was ended by a direct hit from flak over Tokyo on 28 Jul 1945.
