Thomas B Morrow (1915-1994) joined the Shell Oil company in Ventura California in 1936 after graduating from Stanford University, he had joined the Reserve Officer Training Corps (ROTC) during his studies and was granted a reserve commission.



Morrow was called up for active duty in February 1941 and appointed Commanding Officer of the 451st Aviation Ordnance Company at Hamilton Field, California. Morrow was later appointed Commanding Officer of the 721st Ordnance Company, which along with the 451st Ordnance Company sent to Britain on 9 June 1942.



Morrow's units were initially attached to the 1st Fighter Group at Goxhill, but were reassigned to 1st Bomb Wing Headquarters in July 1942. Morrow was promoted to Captain in September 1942, and rose to Lieutenant Colonel during his service in Britain. He was appointed Commanding Officer of the Ordnance Department at the 1st Air Division Headquarters at Brampton and in this capacity he took part in two combat missions and oversaw all ordnance companies operating under the 1st Air Division- ensuring that the division's bomb groups could be furnished with two million pounds of bombs a day.



Morrow also acted as ordnance adviser to 1AD Staff Officers, supply technical expertise on strategic targets and during the development of operational orders. Morrow was awarded the Bronze Star in September 1944 for his service in connection with strategic bombing operations, he was also awarded the French Croix de Guerre.



Morrow returned to the US on 31 July 1945, and resumed his career in the oil and petroleum industries, he was promoted to Colonel in the US Air Force Reserves and was briefly called back to active duty from 1951 to 1953 where he worked in the Facilities and Equipment Division at the Pentagon. Morrow retired from military service in 1975.

La Crescenta, California 20 July 1994 MORROW, Thomas Bambach born June 18, 1915 in Dillon, Montana; passed away July 20, 1994 in La Crescenta, California. He is survived by his wife of 53 years, Kathryn B. Morrow; son, Thomas B. Morrow of San Antonio, Texas: daughter, Kathryn A. Morrow of Orange, California; sister, Helen Sweeney of Tulsa, Oklahoma and five grandchildren. A 1938 graduate from Stanford University, he served proudly in the Air Corps in World War II and the Reserves, rising to the rank of full Colonel. He held a variety of positions in the oil industry, including 23 years at Hydril Corp. in Los Angeles, and 16 years as a consulting petroleum engineer. Active in the community, he was a member of the VFW, 8th Army Air Force Historical Society. Pacific Energy Assn., Legion of Honor, Society of petroleum engineers, kiwanis and a mason for over 50 years. Honoring his wishes, there will be no memorial service. Memorial contributions may be made in his name to the charity of the donor's choice.
