Object Number - UPL 28082 - Lt. Robert E. DeMille

Robert E. DeMille was my Father. He flew 32 missions in B-17's from Grafton-Underwood (384th BG/ 544th BS) and Chelveston in England. He never wanted to speak very much of his wartime experiences. He wanted to come home after his obligatory 25 Missions, but he said he was "encouraged" to stay on for a "few more" missions (32 total). The pilot he typically flew with was Don S. Morrison, however, he also flew with Walter Richard Carpenter on 3 Missions. Dad was always extremely neat and he said Don liked to be more "easy going". I have pictures of Dad's "neat as a pin" quarters and a picture of Don's "easy going" quarters. They flew one of the Pathfinder planes on the the first bombing run into Berlin.
