Mechanicsville, VA 4 September 2005 Raymond Joseph Masse, of Mechanicsville, Va., passed away Sunday, September 4, 2005. He was born in Biddeford, Maine on March 26, 1921, the oldest son of Emile and Marie Louise Masse. Mr. Masse was preceded in death by his wife of 50 years, Iva Lou Masse; two brothers, Paul E. Masse and Jean R. Masse; and two sisters, Lillian Perron and Lorrine Masse. Mr. Masse is survived by one daughter, Mary M. Pollock and husband, Jim; granddaughter, Amanda M. Pollock, all of Mechanicsville; son, Robert Leroy Masse and wife, Bethanne of Smyrna, Ga.; granddaughter, Emily M. Cavaco and husband, Michael of Watertown, N.Y.; granddaughter, Carey Elizabeth Masse; and daughter-in-law, Linda Clarke Masse, both of Richmond; stepgranddaughter, Mackenzie Jeannie Lewis of Smyrna, Ga.; brother, Bernard Masse; three sisters, Gilbert Mahaney, Frances Nadeau and Renette Wentworth, all of Biddeford, Maine; as well as several nieces and nephews. Mr. Masse was a member of Mechanicsville Baptist Church, Northside Lodge No. 292 AF&AM, Mechanicsville VFW Post No. 9808, and was a WWII Army Air Corps. veteran serving the 388th Fighter Squadron, "Hell Hawks". Remains rest at the Mechanicsville Chapel of the Bennett Funeral Home, 8014 Lee-Davis Road, where family will receive friends, from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Friday, and where services will be held 2 p.m. Saturday, September 10, 2005. Interment Signal Hill Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be maded to the American Heart Association, P.O. Box 5216, Glen Allen, Va. 23058.
