Paul J. Posti was inducted as Pvt 3cl on March 3, 1941 into the U.S.Army 40th Infantry. Having many years as a professional chef at Statler hotel in Boston and then the Head chef at the Brown Derby in Hollywood California, he was made Acting as Mess Sergeant Officers Mess in San Louis Obispo, California. He wanted to fight and was transferred to Las Vegas to be trained in Ariel Gunnery school and was promoted to Corporal waiting orders. On November 2, 1942 he was promoted to Sargent and transferred to the 351st Bomb group, 509th squadron in Polebrook, England. He met Clark Gable in Hollywood and when Gable was transferred to the 509th he and Paul became reacquainted again and flew about five missions with Paul. Paul lost one eye when shrapnel exploded out the right waist gun position.
