Norman D Mutchler, 486th Bomb Group
Charles D Taylor collection
"Iowans of the Mighty Eighth", Chapter 22 "Biographies", by Charles D Taylor.
He flew on three missions with the 486th at Sudbury. One was a low-level flight to Linz in Austria to pick up French slave labourers, he described them as 'poor, starved and looking like animals'. He afterwards went back to college, then taught in high school and coached athletics. He continued to fly for pleasure and qualified as a flying instructor.
