17-Feb-42 Assigned as Engineer/Top Turret Gunner on B-17F #41-24579 [PU-F] "Thumper", 303BG/360BS at Gowen Field, Boise, Idaho. 16-Oct-42 Arrived at Molesworth, UK aboard "Thumper".



On 23-Jan-32 in B-17F #41-24579 'Thumper' while serving as Engineer/Top Turret Gunner the aircraft sustained battle damage on a mission to Lorient, France. The pilot was able to crash-land the aircraft at Lulsgate Bottom, Bristol, UK. TSgt Levin was either wounded in action or injured when he bailed out of the aircraft. However, the injuries were sufficient reason for him to be honorably discharged from the USAAF and returned to the United States.
