Born: June 8, 1924. Died: February 15, 2015. Inducted: November 30, 1942. After the war, he earned a degree in mechanical engineering and had a long, distinguished career in the aerospace industry involving the design of key defense systems for the U.S. military. He played a vital role in the Mercury, Gemini and Apollo programs and the Hubble Space Telescope. He was a proud but soft-spoken gentleman and never bragged or sought attention or recognition and led by example.
