Shot down in P-47 #42-7949 during show escorting B-17’s to Paris area, 16-8-43. Not seen to go down, crashed near St. Denis. Evaded capture for a fortnight before meeting up with the Resistance who got him over the Pyrenees and into Spain. Returned to Debden in the Fall, Oct. 1943.

Post 4th FG: 1944-45 Captain, 2116 AAF Base Unit Napier Field, Dothan, Alabama.
