Kittanning, Pennsylvania 12 January 2013 Joseph F. DiMaio Sr., 92, of Cowanshannock Township, passed away Saturday, Jan. 12, 2013, at Altmeyer's Country Rest Home. He was born June 9, 1920, in Uniontown, to Frank and Catherine (Luca) DiMaio. He was an Army Air Forces veteran, serving during World War II. He was a member of the "Hell Hawks" 365th Fighter Group. He was a member of St. Mary's Roman Catholic Church, Yatesboro, American Legion - Cosgrove Post, Sagamore VFW and the William Penn Fraternal Organization - Rural Valley. He was an avid gardener. Joseph was the former owner of DiMaio's Market and Fran and Joe's Tavern in NuMine. Joseph is survived by two sons, Joseph (Patty) DiMaio Jr. and John (Leslie) DiMaio, both of Rural Valley; daughter, Mary Ann DiMaio, of Kittanning; eight grandchildren, Gina (Joe) Pittman, Beth (Kirk) Rearick, Ayse (Joe) Vansovich, Chuck, Joe, Sarah, Jacob and Aaron Dimaio; five great-grandchildren, JoJo, Sammy, Lucia, Gianna and Isabella; one sister, Frances Palilla, of Rural Valley. He was preceded in death by his parents; and four brothers, Samuel, Anthony and John Dimaio and Carmen Bartuccio. Visitation will be held from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesday at CARSON/BOYER FUNERAL HOME INC., 724 Main St., Rural Valley. Funeral Mass will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, Jan. 16, 2013, at the St. Mary's Roman Catholic Church, Yatesboro, with the Rev. Daniel Blout officiating. Burial will take place in the St. Mary's Roman Catholic Cemetery, Yatesboro.
