MilitaryKilled in Action (KIA) crashed flying 'Junior' #42-5179 On raid to Palermo. Earlier on 9 August 1942, B-17 #41-23347 'Stork' was first plane loss for 301st when Lieutenant Hair was forced to make a wheels-up landing at RAF Station Church Lawford due to engine trouble. Crew was uninjured.
