James Atkinson got his wings as a 2nd Lt on 5 August 1942 in Miami Beach, Florida. Promoted 1st Lt on 1 March 1943 in England, to Captain in September of that year. Completed six missions as a Bombardier with the 390th from 7 to 22 June 1944, this last one on B-17 # 42-102505.

I am the youngest daughter of James HOOKS Atkinson (not Harald) occasionally identified as James H. Atkinson.

My dad appears in photo(UPL 16278 in the back row, 4th from left.

Our family heirlooms include an original copy of that exact photo, as well as his personal zippered (musette?) bag containing his wings and medals, and  his name and Service Number (0-706664) printed clearly on it.  Iā€™m happy to provide photos, along with a copy of either his birth or death certificate if helpful.
