Killed in Action (KIA) on 3-Nov-43 as pilot of P-47C 41-6587 [QP:M], 4FG/334FS when his aircraft was attacked and shot down by German fighters over Holland while on a mission to escort B-17 bomber attacking at Wilhelmshaven, Germany. The flight took off from Halesworth as a more forward location than the permanent station of the units at Debden, UK. The aircraft crashed at Wieringen, Holland. He was shot down on the same mission as Frank Gallion in P-47D 42-7924, 4FG/334FS.

My uncle met Tex when they were in an RAF hospital together in Torquay and they stayed friends until his death. They were in the Palace hotel in Torquay which was being used as a RAF hospital when it was bombed.
