Hubert A. Goss was a Staff Sergeant in the Army during World War II. Hubert resided in Galveston County, Texas before enlisting on July 11, 1942. At the time of enlistment, Hubert was 21 years old, had 4 years of high school education and was single, without dependents. One year later, Hubert was captured by the Nazis while serving in Germany, and was sent to Stalag 17B near Krems, Austria where 3,219 other American POWs were held. Hubert's capture was first reported to the International Committee of the Red Cross on August 17, 1943, and the last report was made on June 12, 1945. Based on these two reports, Hubert was imprisoned for at least 665 days (1 year and ~11 months).
