2Lt. Harry Jay Daniels graduated from flight training on 2 April 1943 and was shipped overseas to Casablanca arriving on 24 April 1943. Eventually he arrived at Cattolica, Italy on 5 May, 1945. It was here that the Tuskegee airmen were assigned a strafing mission to Pompeii that he went missing in action and crashed, presumably at sea, in the vicinity of Pompeii. He was declared dead on 18 May 1945.
