Major Lund was a 20+ year member of the Army Air Corps, and than later the United States Air Force. His primary duty for the 447th was as Executive officer of the 708 Squadron, and in this role participated in many missions. He also served with the occupation forces for 10 years in Germany, which included as governor of part of Germany. He later served in the Air Force reserves, and died in California in 1962
