Grace Price was Dutch national who lived through the German occupation of The Netherlands, in The Second World War.Grace left The Hague, where she worked for Royal Dutch Shell and took up residence in the countryside with a family of her acquaintance. Whilst living and working on her friends' farm Grace listened to BBC broadcasts, (being a fluent speaker of English) which she translated on behalf of the resistance. Grace was central to the rescue of the downed B-26 pilot John B. Hegg.On the day of John's rescue the two of them acted as if they were a courting couple, strolling past a German patrol.The Dutch family with whom Grace lived, took an immense personal risk in sheltering John. A false identity was created for John and he posed as Grace's brother, who was both speech and hearing impaired.
