Entered service as an enlisted member of the Thirteenth Guard Division when that unit was mobilised Sept 1941. He went to Fort Jackson, South Carolina, where he transferred to the Air Corps. Served in the European Theatre of Operations for 3 years with 62FS, 56FG, 8AF USAAF. 14 x kills, 5 in one day. Overseas record cited as 'one of the outstanding of the entire war'. Killed in mid air collision on training mission at March field, CA. in 1947. Fighter was named 'Georgia Peach'
Awards: DFC (both British & American), Croix de Guerre, Distinguished Service Cross; Air Medal with Clusters.
