Object Number - UPL 41818 - Brewster Freeland, April 1944

Brewster Freeland was an insurance executive in his late 30s when the United States entered World War 2. In June 1942 he joined a relatively new branch of the military, signing up for The Army Air Force. After Officer Training School and additional training in Air Intelligence, he joined VIII Air Support Command in England. Freeland's photos capture the glory and the horror of the air war in the ETO, as well as the devastation in Norman cities like St Lo.
