Donald Paul Breeden served as pilot with the 364th Bomb Squadron of the 305th Bomb Group. His B-17 #42-3436 was shot down 14 October 1943 over the Netherlands and Breeden was declared Missing in Action (MIA).

Donald flew 5 missions as a co-pilot starting on October 4th to Frankfurt with the McDarby crew in B-17 #42-29988, the ‘Uncouth bastard‘. On the 8th he flew to Bremen with the same McDarby crew in ‘Devastating Dottie’. Then to the ship yards in Gdynia in occupied Poland on 9th of October with the same crew in B-17 #42-3436. And with the same crew and same ship he flies on October 10th to Munster. Donald Paul Breeden gets shot down in Finkenrath (G) near Eygelshoven (NL) on his 5th mission on the 14th October with the McDarby crew on its way to Schweinfurt. He is listed as MIA.

In December 1948 and January 1949 there was an investigation into this MIA. Donald Paul Breeden's remains were most probably buried together with the remains of Mr. W.J. Martin and/or Mr. H.A. Manley. First in Germany and after the war at Margraten Cemetery.
In 1951 a Board of Review states in its recommendation 'That the remains... considered be determined non-recoverable.'
