Clyde Dan Willis

Clyde Willis was Radio Operator/Gunner on B26 41-17982 on the 17 May 1943 mission to a power station in Holland, plane hit by flak and crashed in sand dunes west of Rozenburg, Holland. 3 Killed in Action (KIA) and 3 Prisoner of War (POW). Braunau, Austria 17 May 1943 - 22 September 1944 badly wounded, he stayed in hospital in The Netherlands before being sent to Stalag XVIIB in Austria. Repatriated on a Prisoner Exchange Program. NARA WWII POW records: "Returned to Military Control 22 September 1944." Got back to the US on hospital ship "Gripsholm".
