Charles Louis Beebe
MilitaryLongest missions were 13 to 14 hours; some targets required little to no fighter support. Flew very high to get better gas mileage; enemy 88 mm and 105 mm weapons could still reach them. Lt. Beebe said 'I didn't have time to get scared'.
