RTD 21 April 1944 in A/C #42-39971 'Little Chum' Weather was very poor, but the crews took off. It was completely fogged in; the ceiling was 1,000 ft. It was still foggy at 14,000 feet. It was at this altitude that the plane ran into very heavy turbulence. Lost control of the plane and it spun in. Crashed near the 95th BG Station at Horham. S/Sergeant. L. George's chute failed. 6 crew members were killed, four parachuted to safety. There were only 4 survivors.
