Extract from accident report:

"Captain Carey H Brown on that late evening mission, took up a new P-51 Mustang. The weather was vicious, low clouds and rain squalls with a good haze layer. Twenty minutes after takeoff, he was seen to he doing acrobatics over a nearby airdrome and then to start a series of loops. The third loop stalled out and he began to spin from 5,000 feet—and never recovered."
