Bernard Patrick Brandon

Military

Flew 33 missions. On the last mission the base was socked in and we couldn't find anyplace to land. So the pilot went to 7,000 ft and told us to bail out. All of us bailed and I landed in the muddiest field in England. I walked on a road until a jeep came along and picked me up. I was the last crew member found. The plane, instead of crashing into the Channel, quietly landed in a field flying empty, it never hit a soul.
