Arnold S Abalos

Military

Arnold Abalos was born in Mexico and emigrated to the United States with his parents at age 8 or 9. The family settled in Elko, Nevada. Arnold enlisted in November 1941 and served overseas with the 1029th Signal Company, attached to the 55th Fighter Group. He was promoted to the rank of Technical Sergeant by the war's end.

After the war, Arnold returned to Elko and started working for the State of Nevada. He married Jo Ellen Hammond Sweetwood in 1966 and they had 7 children. He retired from his job at the Nevada Youth Training Center in the early 1980s.
