Shot down 17 August 1943 in B-17 42-30176 'Assassin. ' Killed in Action (KIA). plane crashed in Vlimmeren, Belgium. H died in Wecheldergande near Antwerp, Belgium. Other crewmembers survived. Formerly buried in grave 196 row 8 plot E at the Neuville-en Condroz Cemetery in Belgium, then repatriated to the U. S.
