Anthony Baraniak served as a ball turret gunner with the 860th Bomb Squadron of the 493rd Bomb Group, flying bombing missions out of Debach, England. On 20 February 1945, he was Killed in Action (KIA) when B-17 43-38568 crashed in the River Deben at Ramsholt, Suffolk. He is buried in Woodlawn National Cemetery, New York.
