Albin Zychowski spent 7 days rest and recuperation in Knightshayes Court 'Flak' House.
On 1 May 1945, he flew on Training Mission to the West Country in P-47 44-21174, when he decided to make 2 low-level passes on Knightshayes Court. On a third pass he misjudged the height and hit the tops of some trees and was killed in the subsequent crash.
