Adrian S Bacon

Adrian S Bacon served first as a waist gunner and then as a togglier with the 398th Bomb Group. On 8 August his aircraft, B-17 42-97394, was hit by flak. The tail was shot off and the aircraft crashed near Falaise, France. The aircraft landed within friendly lines and Bacon was rescued and returned to duty.
One of the crew didn't survive. Sergeant Charles Simons, the tail gunner, was blown out of the tail and was killed.
