Description: AIRFIELDS

Notes: 616 fighters are despatched on strafing sweeps of airfields in Central and Western Germany XI FC contributed 86 P-51s. Weather conditions are horrendous causing 20th Fighter Group, 78th Fighter Group and 353rd Fighter Group were forced to abort. The 352nd Fighter Group flew a mixed formation of P-47s and P-51s. Of the 33 MIA losses, 19 were attributed to weather. Only 8th Air Force MIA losses are included in the table. IX Fighter Command had 5 aircraft lost: 354th Fighter Group - 3 and 363rd Fighter Group - 2. Claims are bundled for 8th Air Force and 9th Air Force and include 40-0-29 on the ground.
