Pilot Bill Crump finished his tour shortly after this, and this a/c was assigned to Bob Schmidt - who renamed it "Tar Baby". Crump's mascot - a Coyote - flew several combat missions with him in P-47s - but met his demise before the Sqdn got Mustangs. Lt. Crump continues to fly Mustangs today -1990.'
