A Swedish soldier guards the nose of a B-24 Liberator (serial number 44-40103) nicknamed "Say When" of the 492nd Bomb Group that has landed near Malmö, Sweden. First handwritten caption on reverse: '440103, Say When, 20/6/44.' Second handwritten caption on reverse: 'Nose gunner pinned in and believed dead. Was very much alive and bitter cold.'

Reassigned to 859th on 20 June 44 to replace 41-29489 which had transferred to the 448th BG on 15 Jun 44. 20 Jun 44: Lost with Heber Crew 705 They were shot up and crippled after they had bombed their target 9 interned in Sweden, MACR 7072 This aircraft was replaced with 42-95177 BO II obtained from the 857th on 6 Jul 44.
