44-13318 Frenesi, B.K's Battle Buggy
After correspondence with Peter Randall of littlefriends.co.uk
P-51D, serial number 44-13318 was flown by Lt. Col. Thomas L Hayes Jr. of the 364th Fighter Squadron, 357th Fighter Group. It is thought to be named after a popular song at the time.
Later on in the war it was flown by Lt. Byron K Braley and gained the nickname 'B.K's Battle Buggy'.
A modern, privately owned, reconstructed airframe is in existence. This is only indicative of how the original might have looked and should not be taken as an accurate depiction of the Second World War-era original.
