Douglas C-47A-DK (DC-3), 42-92061, went down near Pleuven, Brittany, having departed from Ireland.
It had been chased by 2 Messerschmitt German fighters, crashing near a farm.

It was on its way from Nutts Corner, Northern Ireland towards St Mawgan Airfield, Cornwall, England. Due to bad weather conditions they got lost and overflew their target ending up above occupied France. They were there shot down by 2 FW190 fighters from the 2nd Von Richthofen Squadron. The C47 crashed in a field near the town of Pleuven, Brittany, France. Four men were killed in action, 2nd LT. Lloyd C. Mahurin, 2nd LT. Sidney H. Jablowitz, Cpl. Sam Kahn and Flight Officer Louis E. Rapin. The only survivor was Sgt. Cecil E. Bell, the crew chief.
Jablowitz is buried at Brittany War Cemetery, France
Mahurin is buried at Ardennes War Cemetery, Belgium
Kahn is buried in Miami, FLA
Rapin is buried in Michigan
