Pilot Hank Hyde was shot down in P-47 Thunderbolt serial number 42-76309 on 7 June 1944. The aircraft crashed into a farmer's field in Saint Martin de Blagny, France. Years later, parts of the wreckage were still being found. In recent years, local residents, Mr & Mrs Demazier, have erected a Memorial Stone in their field. The plaque records Hank Hyde's name and rank for all who pass to honour.
