B-24J-1-FO #42-7586 "God Bless Our Ship" Code: Q+ 445th BG - 701th BS. This a/c was hit by antiaircraft fire over the Spandau district of Berlin, and after eight members of the crew bailed out 1/LT. G. Lymburn landed the a/c on the Karwar Marshes 25 miles NW of Berlin on March 6, 1944. Lt. Lymburn and the tail gunner Sgt. Francesco Cittadino were aboard, the other crew members having bailed out over Berlin. Navigator Lt. Frank Serpico was KIA. In this photo German soldiers examine the wreckage. Handwritten caption on reverse: '445 BG, B-24 Shot down over Berlin 3/6/44.'
