42-50281 Shoo Shoo Baby aka The Missouri Mule

Shoo Shoo Baby UPL 16169 UPL 16169 Lt. Seymour Deutsch (Navigator) in front of the nose art of B-24 Liberator "Shoo! Shoo! Baby" Serial #42-50281. 493rd BG/862nd BS. There were many questions about the serial # and name and history of this plane. There were several planes named "Shoo Shoo Baby" because of the Andrew Sisters song.
and several different serial numbers associated with the 493rd BG on different websites.
Thanks to the personal diary of Alan Cohen, my father's radio operator, the details of the aircraft were eventually confirmed and the records set straight. You couldn't miss the nose art--A beautiful pin-up of a brunette with a black lace bra and black lace panties. No wonder my father was smiling. He had a soft spot for "Shoo Shoo Baby". and even when I was a little girl he wondered what happened to her. I am happy I was able to find "her" for him.

I added Shoo Shoo Baby S/N 42-50281 to this site for posterity. The other assignments for this plane were:
8 490 849
8 392 578 (EC N) 284
