POW's Reported by Fliegerhorst-Kommandantur A (o) 30/III Koelleda Ground accident (class 4): Saturday, 14 April 1945 @ 1530 hrs (Mechanical failure) RAF Bury St Edmunds (hardstand 34) - England Ass't Crew Chief: Sgt Lionel P Renaud 8th AF mission: 948 / 94th BG mission: 310 (Bordeaux, France - Tactical) Aircraft was being preflighted for next day's mission. Struck parked B-17G-65-VE 44-8416. While engines were being run-up, aircraft brakes failed; aircraft jumped over chocks, running over GMC Oil Service truck and striking the left outer wing panel of 44-8415. #1 & 2 engines, propellers, plexiglass nose, underside of fuselage from nose turret to station 3 damaged.
