Crashed

02000 Laon, France 22 February 1945 On 22 February 1945 Lt. Van Noorden was scheduled to fly A-26B-20, AAF No. 41-39208, on an operational mission. However, while on the take-off run his left engine lost power. He applied brakes and cut his engines in an attempt to stop, but was unable to do so. Consequently, he ran off the end of the runway. His left gear and nose gear collapsed. Investigation disclosed that the pilot valve of the properrer governor had stuck, allowing the engine oil pressure to feather the left engine. 416BG 9AF
