Assigned 791BS, 467BG, 8AF USAAF. Subsequently assigned to BAD 2. Lost while flying from RAF Valley to Meeks Field, Iceland 23-Jul-45 . Port outer engine caught fire and could not be controlled causing the wing outboard of engine to fail. Failed wing them collided with tail unit causing it to depart the airframe. Crashed near Stonefield on Isle of Skye, all 14 onboard killed.



Crew: 1Lt William H Bell, 1Lt Theodore E Lundell, 1Lt Albert L Harmonay, T/Sgt Svend E Hansen, S/Sgt Robert R Bisbing.

Hi There
Just like to point out a typo. The article correctly names the 5 crew and 9 passangers killed in the accident but goes on to state twice there were 13 fatalities, when of course, there were actually 14 lives lost. Thanks for updating this in advance.
