Originally assigned to 446 Bomb Group. Transferred to 389th Bomb Group, 565th Bomb Squadron in November 1943 - named "Helfer College." Transferred to 392nd Bomb Group, 576th Bomb Squadron 12 February 1944 - named "Spirit of '46" and later "Flying Patch."
