B-24 Liberator

Assigned to 68BS, 44BG, 8AF USAAF. TDY to 9AF USAAF. Failed to Return (FTR) Ploesti - two miles after target, seen to be on fire in the waist and immediately thereafter A/C skimmed top of woods and crashed on other side of woods and exploded. Attacking Me109 was downed by return fire top turret and tail gunners and crashed close by. 1-Aug-43. 9 x KIA.
