The B-24D, 42-40172, Lynn Bari II, was flown on the low level Ploesti mission, returning safely to Benghazi, Libya. 1 Aug 43.

Lynn Bari II, was lost on the night of 14-15 August, 1944, under unknown circumstances in the vicinity of Lyon, France. One crewman, waist gunner Sgt. John W. Gillikin, though badly injured, survived, and was rescued at the scene of the crash, and turned over to members of the French Resistance. He recovered from his injuries and evaded capture. 15 Aug 44.
