The B-24s main pilot was Robert Vickers. He chose the name Dugan & the Shamrock because it was the nickname given to his father by an Irish family friend. Vickers’ family had no Irish heritage themselves.
Flew 28 Missions.
Returned to U.S.A. in June 1945.
To RFC Kingman AAF, AZ. Dec 16, 1945 and scrapped.
Consolidated B-24M Liberator ex-44-51228 is on static display at the American Air Museum Duxford. This aircraft has been repainted in the scheme of 44-50493 "Dugan". (Imperial War Museum Duxford, Cambridge, England, United Kingdom).
