Supermarine Spitfire EP615 Mk IX, Built at Castle Bromwich Aircraft Factory.
Original aircraft crashed at Willenhall 18-7-42 after engine failure on a test flight, test pilot Alex Henshaw survived the forced landing in a cabbage patch between two houses in a densely populated area.
Serial was reallocated VA Converted to Mk IX.
Delivered to No 39 MU 16-6-43, Cat AC 22-6-43, ROS, assigned to 222 MU 20-9-43, loaded aboard SS Empire Marlow 2-10-43, to Casablanca 19-10-43, to Nth Africa 30-11-43, assigned to 309 FS 31st FG 12th AF USAAF 31-1-44, shot down over Anzio beachhead 7-2-44 pilot F/O Bruce Winston Collins 309FS 31FG 12AF KIA. MACR 2221. SOC.
