The B-24D Liberator nicknamed, Suzy Q, in the 8th Air force and the 44th Bomb Group, in flight during the raid over Ploesti. Printed caption on reverse: "For his leadership of the 44th Bomb Group on the Ploesti mission, Gen. Leon Johnson was awarded his country's highest decoration, the Medal Of Honor. He sat in the co-pilot's seat of, Suzy Q, here depicted on the return flight. This, believed to be the only photograph of that famous bomber actually taken during the mission. It was snapped through the oil smeared windscreen of the B-24D, Buzzin' Bear, the only other remaining aircraft of that formation.

The B-24D, 41-24229, last named, Buzzin' Bear, was assigned to the 8th Air Force, the 44th Bomb Group, and the 67th Bomb Squadron in North Africa based at Benghazi Libya. Buzzin' Bear was flown by Col. William Roderick Cameron on Operation Tidal Wave the bombing mission over the German held oil refineries at Ploesti, Romania, and returned safely to Benghazi. 1 August, 1943. ~ Seeds of Satan, was, apparently, 41-24229's, first name, with it's name and nose art, changed to, Miss Delores, for it's second name. And, 41-24229's, last name was, Buzzin' Bear, the name it had when it was shot down and lost over Foggia, ltaly. 16 Aug, 43.
After surviving Operation Tidal Wave, the Ploesti mission, 41-24229, Buzzin' Bear was still on temporary assignment (TDY) to the 9th Air Force. Buzzin' Bear was shot down over Foggia, Italy, by enemy fighters and failed to return (FTR) from the mission, with 4 (KIA) 6 (POW). Aug 16,1943,
