P-51 Mustang (CY-D, serial number 44-14561), named "Miss Velma", of the 343rd Fighter Squadron, 55th Fighter Group. This aircraft was flown by Capt. Frank E. Birtciel, who flew with the 343rd FS between August 1943 and April 1945. The 55th FG began flying P-51 Mustangs in July 1944.
