I have had a lifelong interest in all aspects of the second world war, especially aviation and the European theatre of operations in particular. As a boy in Canada I remember Lancaster maritime patrol and Mosquito training aircraft were common sights in the sky. Having a father and other relatives who served in the RAF allowed access to some first hand narratives, including sharing airfields with the U.S. Army Air Force. As a humble model maker it is necessary to examine photographs and records very carefully in order to faithfully render your chosen subject in all it’s historical accuracy. This gives rise to developing a practised eye for detail and a rationale for undertaking research, which usually takes longer than actually constructing a model. The end result is an appreciation of the operations, equipment, work and sacrifices of the armed services, with a model as a by-product.
